2009/6/17 Bugs’ Life at HKAPA

It is Kids’ Gallery annual production at HK Academy of Performing Arts. It is the third time Faye taking part in it. Faye and her classmates of Speech and Drama are all Silly Spiders. They are very lovely in fact!
(left) This is Sarah. (next 2) I help Faye stitch the vest to the costume so that it will not appear in the photo embarrassingly. Besides that, the size of the collar is reduced and the bow is secured on the coat. (right) This is Baila.

Tyler made this silly face before. But I forget where the photo is. Faye resembles his brother in my memory.

When they are freezing, it is the best moment for parents to take photos!

Curtain call - All bugs come to the front of the stage to receive applause by the audience. I have to say that the audience were of very high quality. I cannot recall a time that the audience gave a wrong response, except photo taking. They clapped their hands to appreciate or support the young performers at right time. They laughed at right time, kept silent at right time, clapped hands hard at right time too. Audience are not allowed to take picture or video. The staff kept reminding parents not to do so and parents would politely respond to them. Tin spotted a very funny scene: a staff patted a man several times to remind him not to take video. That man did not respond at all. This response was quite useful. The staff finally left him. The man did not pause videoing. They did not have eye contact. Impolite but not embarrassing at all.

2007 Lost in Hollywood (Tyler and Faye) – The best of the 4 years
2006 Wizard of Oz (Tyler only) – we did not watch the performance. How lucky we were! I bought the VCD and I learnt that it was very very boring.

2009/6/8 Swimming Gala

I have never been so serious in sports. After I joined the mother-child event, I seriously tried to find out whether I should swim front crawl or breast stroke by consulting a coach. The answer is breast stroke! Can you imagine how silly it is when someone swims breast stroke in a free-style relay? It's me, a courageous mother.

I was introvert during my childhood. Dare not talk to strangers. Simple minded and naive. I took part in 400m in F.1 Sports Day. I did not know how long and how difficult it was. I was nearly collapsed in the last 100m. I joined the school singing contest in F.3. My legs keeps knocking each other when I was on the stage. The voice was trembling funnily. The turning point happened at the night before release of CE results. I felt that my life was too simple and routine. Thus, I decided to choose a boy's school to further my study if I could achieve certain unbelievable result. It was only a dream at first. But it turned out that I was really in a boy school in September 1. I did not know how to swim until November that year, when one of my tutorial students taught me how to swim after a class. She was a good swimmer. She encouraged me to join the first, as well as the last swimming gala in my life. After 2 swimming lessons, I knew how to swim breast stroke. It was only a month before the swimming gala. I thought I would have no more chance in taking part in swimming gala in my whole life. Although I must be the slowest and silliest swimmer, I took part in the 4x50m relay. (There was no girls' 50m breast stroke since it was a boys' school.) The result was that I extremely slow that after all the swimmers of other houses finished, the last leg of my house was still waiting for me! So embarrassing!

Twenty years later, I proved that I was wrong. I took part in swimming gala again. As not many mothers joined the relay, we were able to win a bronze medal. I had never thought of being a mother when I was in F.6. An idiot in sports in childhood or teenage does not mean an idiot forever. Although I do not swim fast, I dare swim. Although I cannot run fast, I run ten 400m-laps easily. If you try, you can do it one day. Tyler, are you proud of me? I am proud of myself.

After swimming gala, we mothers and our sons went to yum cha. Chatter chatter chatter! We had a great time at the restaurant. Our kids also were very happy as well.

2009/6/1 Faye's new production

Faye writes books from time to time. Recently, her new production was made at school. She said that the story was created by herself. But I feel that she pirated the story 'Little Red Riding Hood'.

This is the cover:

Faye can blend quite well. 'Gon' sounds as 'gone'.

To her understanding, the sound of 'saw' can be 'saw', 'sau', 'sall' and even 'so'. 'Wolf' has the same sound as 'woof'. If she can write 'has seen' or 'saw' rather than 'has saw', she will receive 100 marks!

The story is very simple and direct.

Nice drawing, wonderful script. Good going, Faye!
