Finally!!! Finally, I was granted a chance to be a parent helper at Faye’s school. 'Luckily', the mothers of two girls were not available to go to the help, I got a chance at the second lot-drawing.
Faye was very excited the night before and that morning.
The school notice told us that there were seats available for parents. Therefore 10 parents were invited to go with them on the coach. At first I wondered why only 10 seats were available. Faye told me that I was responsible to take care of her and 2 more girls…
The 3 girls took the 3-seater while the parent helper took the 2-seater next to them.
The girls were getting noisier and noisier. The class teacher told them off fiercely. Aggie was so unlucky that she was picked to be scolded separately. All girls and mothers were silent at once.
We were told to wait under the canopy. The teachers told us to meet here again at 12 pm (???). Janitors were stationed at the toilets. They disappeared after that. I finally understand why 10 parent helpers were needed. They were there to make sure the girls were safe.
I asked the class teacher if they would arrange a class photo taking time. The answer was NO. Therefore, I immediately initiated group photo taking before dismissal.
Girls were allowed to go anywhere and played whatever they liked. They did rock climbing, slides, swings and rope-jumping.
There was a big sofa swing. The girls had great fun on it.
Faye loved monkey bars very much, but not her classmates.
Faye was not very willing to stay in her group (but they chose their own groupmates!) Although the parents of the other 2 girls were at the park too, it was quite irresponsible of me not to 'look after' them. Therefore, I tried my best to gather them together.
The girl in the middle devised a race track. Set, ready, GO!
And she came the champion. Faye was unhappy then. I did not understand why she was so troublesome that day. She kept throwing tantrum over the whole trip. They played again and this time, the girls let Faye be the champion. I was not happy with how Faye behaved.
Next, we played 'hide-and-seek' with some more girls. One was to hide a bag while the others could not peep. They were searching for the bag in the next photo.
Faye said that she had to be the next one to hide the bag. I declined her unreasonable and rude request. She almost burst in tears. I was quite angry with her. In fact, every girl wanted a turn to hide, so we played the game six to seven times.
It was time to leave very soon. While waiting for the girls to assemble, our class teacher appeared. She was so nice to chat and take photos with the girls. Some parents and girls went for lunch together. We could not join unfortunately since I had afternoon classes that day. I hurried home with Faye and then hurried to work. I was very exhausted after being a parent helper.
