2012/2/3 A call from Tyler that touches my heart

Like me, Tyler is very forgetful. He often forgets to bring homework and textbook, forgets to submit reply slips, forgets to pass memos to teachers and forgets to bring back umbrella, water bottle and any item that may be left behind. Last month, he forgot to submit the February lunch order form. So he had to bring his own lunch this month. He had the experience of bring packed lunch before. Unfortunately, he forgot to bring back the food container most of the time.

Yesterday was the first day that he brought his own lunch. To my surprise, he brought the container back. Today was the second day. About an hour ago, I received a call from Tyler.

'Mom, I am sorry that I will be a bit late to go back home.'
'Why? What happened? You forgot to bring your octopus?'
'No! When I was at the bus stop, I found that I have left my lunch box at school, so I have to go back to school to get it back. So I will arrive home a bit late.'
'Oh how nice to hear you tell me about it. You are doing very well in giving me a call...'

I scolded Tyler fiercely several times since last September, when he started going back home on his own. One of the reasons I scolded him was that he did not let me know when he stayed up late at school. I worried a lot when he would take it serious to let me know the changes of any routines. And today, he showed me that he cared about my feelings and my worries. I believe that he will become a responsible and thoughtful man. How wonderful that I can squeeze 20 minutes to record this gorgeous incident!!!
