2010/8/5 Austria Day 1 – York > Vienna > Salzburg

I did not sleep that night.  We did not last minute chat.  Stella made sandwiches.  I looked for Faye’s lost sock and diary.  Around 1:30 a.m., I woke the others up.  We hopped on car.  We all fell asleep except Big Sis.  She was the navigator.  We had a toilet break somewhere and later Dave had a snack and snap break.  We arrived at Heathrow Terminal 3 after several hours.  It was so difficult to say goodbye.

We were too early to check in!!!  Therefore we ate sandwiches at the airport. 

An hour later, we went through the immigration and looked for Tin.  Surprisingly, Tin was nowhere to be found.  His plane should have arrived at least 4 hours ago!  Finally, we met each other at the boarding gate.  He told us that the ticket he used was very strange.  He had to enter UK first and check-in again!!!  We then worried a lot about our return flight.  We only had 2 hours to transfer.

  

Faye slept the most.  She went back to her slumber on the plane.

After arriving Vienna Airport, the pushchair did not show up on the conveyor belt.  When I was queuing up at a counter to seek help, Tyler found the conveyor belt operated again.  Big Sis’ pushchair appeared!  How relieved!  We took an airbus to Westbahnhof.

   

At the Westbahnhof, Tin and Tyler looked for train schedule while we stayed together to look after the luggage.

 

Finally we got on the train!  We found some unoccupied cabins.  However, we could not read German.  We were not sure whether they were reserved.  Luckily, one of them were for ladies only.  We were eligible to use.  Tin sat on the aisle if necessary :)

 

We were very tired.  Tin slept for 11 hours on the plane but he could fall asleep easily.

The children loved sitting at the aisle.  Towards the terminus, most cabins were unoccupied.  They played happily in different cabins and the aisle.

 

It rained on and off during our train ride.  Unfortunately, it rained at the time we arrived Salzburg.  Luckily the rain was light.  It was not difficult to find the hotel.  We reserved a cozy quadruple room.  Shops closed early and thus we had our dinner at the station Burger King.

   

We were all very tired.  We went to the hotel to rest.
