2010/8/8 Austria Day 4 – Hellbrunn Wasserspiele

We saw twilight at the previous night.  That was really a good sign. Mr Golden Sun shone bright and warm early in the morning.

Children were waiting at the lobby.

The sky was blue and clear.  The ground was dry.  The road was more beautiful.  We had lovely shadows following us.

Gloomy bus stop was gone.  Happy faces remained.

Salzburg became spectacular and gorgeous.

Clouds were lovely.  A walk without umbrella was so relaxing and enjoyable.

Schloss Hellbrunn was built by Prince-Archbishop Markus Sittikus who ruled Salzburg in the early 17th century.  The enchanting summer palace opened for his use in 1615.  The main attraction was the Palace’s Wasserspiele (Water Gardens).  That was no ordinary garden, but a summer playground built expressly to delight and entertain the Archbishop and his guests.  Water and fun are the main elements of this attraction.  Before entering the garden, ‘Smile! Ron!’  Faye made a butterfly by twisting her feet.

The ticket included a guided tour.  The guide was a cheeky one.  He asked the audience to sit by the table.  A little boy did so.  The guide turned a lever secretly.  All at once, water sprouted out from the seats except the Archbishop’s one.  The poor boy’s trousers were wet through.

There were different tricks and whimsy at the garden.  On the second and third photos below, there was a face below the statue.  The tongue of the face stuck out from time to time.  Quite disgusting.

The huge town model below was a good life example:  when you were focusing on something, you would be less alert to things around you. (有點像「螳螂捕蟬,黃雀在後」、「顧此失彼」,最貼切的要算是聲東擊西。)The first photo was '聲'.   In the second one, Tyler, Faye, Trevor and the audience were facing '東'.  In the third one, the audience were '擊'ed by water came from '西'.  We were so lucky that we were not standing at the best position to watch the town model.

There was a crown on the top of the little ‘mountain’ in photo 1.  Water squirted out and the crown reached nearly the roof!  At the same time, Tyler’s bottom was wet.  Faye was so amused by the trick.

Trevor was not tricked.  Mom was lucky too.  Running through the water canopy was quite delightful.

We had much fun at the Water Garden.  Below, we were choosing photos taken at a time that we did not notice.
