The Water Garden was only part of the palace. There were other attractions. We came here to look for the Sound of Music Pavilion where Liesl and Rolf sang You are Sixteen Going on Seventeen, and also where Maria and Caption sang Something Good. As the Palace was very big, it took some time to reach the Pavilion.
We were so happy to see such a big lawn. More surprising to us was the big and diverse children playground. We met the games that we played at York a few days ago.
Trevor loved the roundabout very much. Rod loved riding on train.
I loved the following ‘swing’ very much. Tyler and I swung together.
The following swing was great fun too. But when Faye shouted ‘dead flies’, i.e. when all her hands and legs left the swing, I worried a lot that she would fall off the swing.
We copied the way to play the swing from the girls we met at York. Great fun!
The Sound of Music Pavilion was not in the park originally. Owing to the story, it was built in Leopoldskron Castle (the house of the von Trapp) for Liesl and Rolf to dance and for Maria and Caption to sing Something Good. When filming was over, it was moved to the Hellbrunn Palace.
Afterwards, we took a bus for a few stops to another attraction – Leopoldskron Castle. Google map was very useful. With its help, Tin knew where we got off and which direction we should go.
The Leoploldskron Castle is now a restaurant. According to the tour book, it is not open to public. As we were only a small group, no one stopped us from touring around.
The younger three ran to the gate. If Tin did not tell them in advance, it was quite difficult for them to recall the scene that Maria and the children rowed a boat and fell in the water.
Trevor pretended to be Caption while we lined up to be Maria and the seven children. We were being scolded by the caption.
Not clearly shown in the picture, it was the balcony that Baroness and Caption parted. The only difference was that no plant was on the wall in the movie.
Staying for less than one hour, we left and went back to the bus stop.
